Locksley Distilling: R Pegu Club

Every time I make this cocktail for Cynthia, she says it “tastes like a kiss from Jack Frost”, or “it tastes like snow smells”. Usually lime is a summery flavour, but there is something magical in this combination that really tastes wintery, icy, and crisp.

This cocktail is our version of the classic served up at the original Pegu club in Burma in the 1920s, before being immortalised by Harry McElhone (Barflies & Cocktails) and Harry Craddock (Savoy Cocktail Book.)


50ml Sir Robin of Locksley® Gin
25ml Curaçao Triple Sec – Edmond Briottet
12.5ml Fresh Lime Juice
12.5ml Chilled Mineral Water
2 dashes Orange Bitters

Shake all the ingredients with ice and strain into a chilled coupe.

Garnish with a lime twist.
